Antlers & Grapes
Deer antlers have become a major issue for our spreaders and especially the spreader trucks. Big tires on my spreader trucks cost $4,000-7,000 each. Take the time to drive your coastal and Klein grass with a 4-wheeler or mule, and pick up all you can find!
Vineyard acreage volume is up and more grapes are being grown here in the Texas Hill Country.
We ask that everyone who applies their own fertilizer and weed killer or who has us do the application become familiar of where the closest vineyards to your property are located. This determines what you may apply to stay in good graces with your neighbors. We all have our rights, but we must all have the common decency to respect our neighbors. Grapes, peaches, tomatoes, berries & vegetables are all very susceptible to 2-4D damage, so lets respect one another.
Not all is lost when someone plants a vineyard next to your property. There are different ways to control your weeds and grasses next to a vineyard. The safest is to apply RoundUp and a broadleaf weed killer, Chaparral, in February to early March prior to bud break in grapes. This gives you season-long control of most grasses and weeds.
